The Department of Microbiology is in the process of revising the syllabus of M.Sc. Microbiology program under Choice Based Credit System. The draft of the revised syllabus has been prepared after taking into consideration the feedback obtained from multiple stakeholders including the present students, the alumni, as well as prospective employers from the corporate sector. The Department invites your views and suggestions on the same which may be submitted only by email at microsdc@south.du.ac.in latest by 5 PM on Friday, the 4th of May 2018. M.Sc. Microbiology Admissions 2018

The online registration for admission to M.Sc. Microbiology for academic year 2018-19 has commenced from 18-May-2018. The P.G. admission portal will remain open for registration till 07-Jun-2018.

Admission criteria:

Merit and Entrance test based

Number of seats:  

Twelve (6 by merit, 6 by entrance test) 

Distribution of seats:  

Entrance based (Total= 6): Gen 3, OBC 2, SC 1

Merit based (Total= 6): Gen 3, OBC 1, SC 1, ST 1

Marks requirement

For Entrance Based

B.Sc. (General) or B.Sc. (Hons) or an equivalent Undergraduate Degree in any branch of Life Sciences/ Medical Sciences/ any branch of Biology

60% or above marks in qualifying exam

For Merit Based

B.Sc. (Hons.) in Microbiology from the University of Delhi (after 10+2+3) 

60% or above marks in qualifying exam

Entrance Test:

The tentative date for the conduct of the Entrance Examination for admission to M.Sc. Microbiology is 19 June 2018 from 4 PM to 6 PM. For those applying under entrance mode, the syllabus for the entrance examination is the B.Sc. (Honors) Microbiology syllabus of the University of Delhi under CBCS system which may be downloaded here. The entrance test will be of 2 hour duration and will consist of 100 multiple choice questions.  

Important information for OBC applicants:

The OBC applicants who belong to the ‘Non-Creamy Layer’ and whose caste appears in the Central List of the OBCs only, shall be eligible to be considered for admission under the OBC category (Validity period of OBC certificate in respect of ‘creamy layer’ status of the applicants as per DOPT Office Memorandum No. 36036/2/2013-Estt.(Res-I) dated 31 March 2016). The validity of the non-creamy layer certificate shall be for the financial year 2017-2018, issued after 31st March, 2018. If the applicants do not have the OBC non-creamy layer certificate of the financial year 2017-18 at the time of upload, the applicant may upload old OBC non-creamy layer certificate/acknowledgement slip of OBC non-creamy layer certificate application. However, at the time of admission, the applicant will have to produce the OBC non-creamy layer certificate of the financial year 2017-18.

 

Answer Key for Entrance test 2018

The answers keys to the entrance test for admission to M.Sc. Microbiology can be downloaded here. In case any inconsistency/ discrepancy/ error are noticed, the same may be communicated by applicant to Department only by email to microsdc@south.du.ac.in latest by 5:00 PM on 24 June 2018. The email must also mention the name of applicant and application form number.
