Summary report by Aparajita Sen (M.Sc.)

AparajitaDeepawali is one of the most awaited festivals of Indians. It is a festival of lights, wherein the whole country illuminated with billions of diyas and candles, symbolizing the victory of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance. Thus to shake off all ignorance, our Department celebrated Deepwali Diwas this year, a day before Chhoti Diwali. All students dressed up in their best traditional clothes. All the labs were decorated with rangolis made by the students. The various patterns of rangoli colors and flower petals were enough to mesmerize even the toughest critics!

The teachers and staff members were invited to ignite the first couple of deeyas, and the rest are lighted by the students.  Rows of candles and deeyas dissipate any remnant darkness, and instill a sense of joy and completeness in the Department. The day concluded by dancing and exchanging sweets and good wishes.
