The puzzle for Jan 2019 was created by Jatin Chadha and Lavanya Khullar (both MSc Student). The competition was held on 11-Jan-2019 after the Journal club and Work presentations. The student participants were required to fill the answers on the spot in 30 minutes. And the winners are- First: Vishal (19.5/23), Second: Mohini (19/23). More details here.

On 11-Jan-2019, Ms.Arushi Khanna will be presenting a paper titled "Staphylococcus aureus biofilms release leukocidins to elicit extracellular trap formation and evade neutrophil-mediated killing".  The paper may be downloaded here. This will be followed by work presentation by Ms.Juhi Jain.

Ph.D. Microbiology Admissions 2018

 

The online registration for admission to Ph.D. program has started. For latest information regarding Ph.D. admissions in University of Delhi, please visit admission portal of University here. The bulletin of information for admission to Ph.D. courses of University of Delhi may be downloaded here.

Eligibility:

The candidate should have a minimum 55% marks (or equivalent CGPA score) in Master’s Degree/ M.Phil./ M. Tech./ M.D./ M.S. in any branch of life Sciences/ Medical Sciences/ Any branch of Biology from a recognized University/ Institute.

Important

Those students who qualify UGC-NET (including JRF), UGC-CSIR NET (including JRF), ICAR-NET, GATE (in 'Life Science' or 'Biotechnology' subject with minimum percentile as described ahead), are eligible to appear directly for interview for Ph.D. admission.

GATE eligibility

Please note that candidate who have qualified GATE either in 'Life Science' or in 'Biotechnology' subject with minimum percentile score as listed below, will be eligible for directly appearing in interview of Ph.D. admission.

General category: Percentile of 90 and above

OBC: Percentile of 85 and above

SC, ST, PwD: Percentile of 80 and above

Entrance Test:

The tentative date for the conduct of the Entrance Examination for admission to Ph.D. Microbiology is 19 June 2018 from 4 PM to 6 PM. The entrance test will be of 2 hour duration and will consist of 50 multiple choice questions.  The syllabus for entrance test would be the syllabus for M.Sc. Microbiology course of University of Delhi which can be downloaded here.

Important information for OBC applicants:

The OBC applicants who belong to the ‘Non-Creamy Layer’ and whose caste appears in the Central List of the OBCs only, shall be eligible to be considered for admission under the OBC category (Validity period of OBC certificate in respect of ‘creamy layer’ status of the applicants as per DOPT Office Memorandum No. 36036/2/2013-Estt.(Res-I) dated 31 March 2016). The validity of the non-creamy layer certificate shall be for the financial year 2017-2018, issued after 31st March, 2018. If the applicants do not have the OBC non-creamy layer certificate of the financial year 2017-18 at the time of upload, the applicant may upload old OBC non-creamy layer certificate/acknowledgement slip of OBC non-creamy layer certificate application. However, at the time of admission, the applicant will have to produce the OBC non-creamy layer certificate of the financial year 2017-18.

 

Results for Entrance test 2018

The results of entrance test for admission to Ph.D. Microbiology course is expected to be declared in week 02-07 July, 2018.

Interview

The dates of interview for admission to Ph.D. Microbiology will be declared after announcement of results.
