Title: "Screening for host factors and neutralizing mAbs for respiratory virus infections". Date and Time: March 11, 2019 (Monday) at 11AM. Venue: Seminar Room in Department of Microbiology (1st Floor of Bachhawat Block). This talk will be focused on using unbiased discovery approaches to identify human host factors required for hantavirus entry and neutralizing monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) against respiratory syncytial virus (RSV).

Ph.D. Microbiology Admissions 2018

Interview for admission to PhD Microbiology (University of Delhi, South Campus) on 14 March at 10AM

The interviews for admission to PhD Microbiology will be held on 14th March 2019 at 10AM. The schedule for the same may be downloaded here. Candidates are requested to carefully read the instructions given in the schedule. Number of seats available in this round of admission is One, in the specialization area of "Recombinant Protein Expression, Bioprocess Optimization". Candidates called for interview must ensure that they are eligible to appear directly for interview as per the criteria mentioned in Ordinance VI. In case of any doubt, please contact the Department by email to microsdc@south.du.ac.in. The venue for the interview will be Department of Microbiology (First Floor, Bachhawat Block) in South Campus of University of Delhi. The directions to reach South Campus are available here.  No TA/ DA will be paid for attending the interview

PhD Admission schedule Feb 2019

The admission portal will be open for registration of students from 14-Feb till 28-Feb 2019, for admission to PhD program based on interview. The applicants who had applied in May-June 2018 and were called for interviews held on 19-20 July 2018 do not need to apply again. They will be automatically called for interview in this round as well. Those candidates who had  applied in May-June 2018 and were not eligible for appearing in interview in July 2018, may update their qualifications if they are now eligible for directly appearing in interview based on criteria listed in 'Eligibility' section above (NET/ GATE etc). Those applicant who had not applied earlier and are now eligible to appear directly for interview based on criteria listed above (NET/ GATE etc), may register on admission portal when it will open for registration from 14-Feb to 28-Feb 2019.

Admission schedule 2018-19

Eligibility:

The candidate should have a minimum 55% marks (or equivalent CGPA score) in Master’s Degree/ M.Phil./ M. Tech./ M.D./ M.S. in any branch of life Sciences/ Medical Sciences/ Any branch of Biology from a recognized University/ Institute.

Important

Those students who qualify UGC-NET (including JRF), UGC-CSIR NET (including JRF), ICAR-NET, GATE (in 'Life Science' or 'Biotechnology' subject with minimum percentile as described ahead), are eligible to appear directly for interview for Ph.D. admission.

GATE eligibility

Please note that candidate who have qualified GATE either in 'Life Science' or in 'Biotechnology' subject with minimum percentile score as listed below, will be eligible for directly appearing in interview of Ph.D. admission.

General category: Percentile of 90 and above

OBC: Percentile of 85 and above

SC, ST, PwD: Percentile of 80 and above

Entrance Test:

The tentative date for the conduct of the Entrance Examination for admission to Ph.D. Microbiology is 19 June 2018 from 4 PM to 6 PM. The entrance test will be of 2 hour duration and will consist of 50 multiple choice questions.  The syllabus for entrance test would be the syllabus for M.Sc. Microbiology course of University of Delhi which can be downloaded here.

Important information for OBC applicants:

The OBC applicants who belong to the ‘Non-Creamy Layer’ and whose caste appears in the Central List of the OBCs only, shall be eligible to be considered for admission under the OBC category (Validity period of OBC certificate in respect of ‘creamy layer’ status of the applicants as per DOPT Office Memorandum No. 36036/2/2013-Estt.(Res-I) dated 31 March 2016). The validity of the non-creamy layer certificate shall be for the financial year 2017-2018, issued after 31st March, 2018. If the applicants do not have the OBC non-creamy layer certificate of the financial year 2017-18 at the time of upload, the applicant may upload old OBC non-creamy layer certificate/acknowledgement slip of OBC non-creamy layer certificate application. However, at the time of admission, the applicant will have to produce the OBC non-creamy layer certificate of the financial year 2017-18.

 

Results for Entrance test 2018

The results of entrance test for admission to Ph.D. Microbiology course is expected to be declared in week 02-07 July, 2018.
